pills access
Bill filed in South Dakota Legislature seeks to
protect access to birth control pills and other oral contraceptive methods.
A
bill has been filed in the South Dakota Legislature looking to defend people’s
right to use birth control pills and other oral contraceptive methods without
government interventions.
The new bill SB164 indicates that residents of
South Dakota have the full freedom to seek birth control pills and other safe
oral contraceptive products and methods without government interventions.
According
to state low, pharmacists now allowed to refuse to dispense the birth control
medication if they doubt it would be used for abortion or may be used for life-threatening
purposes like suicide. However, the bill also says that pharmacists can not use
abortion law as an excuse to refuse to dispense birth control medications.
