How
to take birth control pills during Daylight Saving Time?
Almost
all birth control pills are advised
to be taken on the same time daily to remain protected from unintended pregnancies.
However, during Daylight Saving Time, where the time is ahead an hour, many women
worry to know how to take their pills now. They are also concerned about the effectiveness
of the pills.
So, if you have been taking your pills at 8:00 pm every night,
you will be now required to take at 9:00 pm due to Daylight Saving Time. This
in case of being super-cautious about the effectiveness of birth control pills,
however, you can still have choice to take on your usual time 8:00 pm DST
During
twenty-four hours of the pill dosage, your body will feel the influence and effectiveness
of the pill. If your body feels lighter or lesser than the pills dosage, please
assess yourself if you had missed the dose or took much longer period than the
last dosage.
Another option is to continue to take pills on your regular
time at 9:00 pm during Daylight Saving Time until the pack is over and you have
completed placebo week as well. Start taking pills from the new pack from 8:00
pm during the Daylight Saving Time.
The good news is that birth control
pills do have "safe time" and one-hour difference, either earlier or later should
not make any difference, however, earlier is better. But in any case, taking birth
control pills daily is far more important than taking on adjusted time to get
full protection from unwanted pregnancies.
