Also called as oral contraceptives and "Pill", birth controlpills are synthetic harmonized pills, which suppress ovulation and stops ovaries to release eggs for fertilization. Thus no pregnancy occurs. Pills come in various combined estrogen and progestin hormones as well as single hormone like progestin. Pills are mostly preferred by women.

It releases the hormones slowly preventing ovulation and also thickens the wall of uterus so that sperm can not meet egg for fertilization. Ring is inserted for 3 weeks and later removed for 1 week. Menstruation period starts in this week. After a week, the ring is inserted again.
