Dawn Stacey is an independent Licensed Mental Health Counselor and former Planned
Parenthood employee. Presently, she writes for About.com as their Contraception
Guide, is a college professor and is actively involved in consulting work where
she develops and writes study guide preparation material for internet sites that
assist individuals in studying for licensure-related tests in the fields of psychology,
social work, and counseling.
Dawn also provides on-line counseling and
intervention for clients with all types of presenting issues, including relationship
issues, pregnancy options counseling, choosing birth control types and deciding
sexual practices, fertility counseling (how to maximize chances of becoming pregnant),
family planning advice, and counseling pertaining to religious and ethical concerns
regarding sexual behaviors.
Dawn has 10+ years of counseling experience,
which included providing counseling on abortion, adoption, prenatal care, and
family planning/contraceptive education. Dawn is currently pursing a PhD in Health
Psychology and holds Specialist and Master Degrees in Education (Major: Mental
Health Counseling Track) from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. She
has a great enthusiasm towards reproductive rights, is up-to-date on all forms
of birth control, and is passionate about making sure that people have access
to accurate and informed information when it comes to birth control.
